My name is Rovera Alessandro. I graduated on Oct. 26th 2000 in Physics at the Turin University. Branch of Applied Physics.
Since 1996, I have consistently worked with FEM/FEA analysis software and numerical models.
In my past work experiences, I extensively used many commercial codes such as ABAQUS, ANSYS, RADIOSS, Fluent, MaDyMo, just to mention a few of the most well-known ones.
Despite those experiences, I have always been fascinated by free and open-source software.
Furthermore, my previous knowledge and programming skills have aided me in gaining a deep understanding and proficient use of those tools.
I began using CalculiX in 1998 with version 0.92. In the 2006, I started using openFOAM with version 1.4. A few years earlier, I adopted Elmer multiphysics. In 2009, I started using FEMM for electromagnetic analisys, just to mention a few. Afterward, over years of activity, I have employed various other tools. Take a look at a comprehensive list of free software that I have learned and used in engineering development… .
In 2020, during the COVID-19 period, I began coding some utilities to assist me in creating OpenFOAM cases. Three years later, I was able to publish a very straightforward and intuitive pre-processor for OpenFOAM called foamBuilder.
